Scot Owen

I graduated in 1998 from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology with an undergraduate master’s degree in Chemistry. My main areas of study were medicinal and analytical chemistry. I spent a number of years working in the pharmaceutical industry for AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline and Wockhardt UK, in a variety of roles, including Analytical Chemist, Senior Process Validation Scientist and Technical Officer.

I then changed career, moving into Secondary School Teaching. During my time teaching I have taught 10-19 year olds across North Wales and also in Madrid. I have an enthusiasm for Science and for working with children and young adults.

I grew up in the Lancashire countryside but have called North East Wales my home for the last 13 years. My hobbies include reading contemporary science books and books by Paulo Coelho, listening to heavy metal music and watching my favourite football team. I also enjoy travelling throughout Europe and in particular Spain.
